It’s official

I have completely torn my ACL.

Next on the list is to get x-rays because the specialist my doc is sending me to likes to have them.

Then, I wait. The specialist will call my doc’s office and they will call me to set up an appointment. Apparently specialists do not like patients to call their office directly. Why would they? I mean, it’s only my knee and my time that I need to schedule.

So basically, now I wait. Orthopaedic specialists have the longest wait time in our system. I have no idea at this point how long it will take to get an appointment, let alone surgery time.

I’m glad that I know, and paying for the MRI was definitely worth it to get things moving along. But I’m depressed that it turned out to be the worst it could be.

I hope you get the surgery soon, so you can join the ACL Surgery club, or my chapter, the Right. There are a lot of people in the Right, more so than the Left in my experience.

I do agree, it helps if you can afford to pay for any of the process. I know people who have paid for the surgery, even, but they had the money.

Good luck with this. If you have any questions about my experience (in 2002) you can email me.

Fuck is right – I’m sorry. If you want a name for a good specialist at UBC Hosp., let me know. He was a good doctor for my sister’s ACL surgery.

Sorry to hear that. I’m only 17 and it happened to me while I was playing soccer when I was 14. My mom kept me playing the whole season too. Yeah it really hurt, but what sucked even more was the waiting time to see a surgeon. 2 years! I had surgery last summer and now Im fine.. it wasnt all that bad. Lots of physio in store for you though im afraid. Good luck with everything.
