Want vs need
June 5, 2008Erin 1 Comment »Little White Liar’s composition challenge:
Make a list of 5-10 things you want. Make them things you personally want for you (no Miss America “World Peace” shenanigans). Then think of one thing you need. You can’t already have it, because really, who do you think you are? Just rubbing your self-contentment in everyone’s gaping life-holes.
Post your response on your blog linking this entry. Then comment here and let us know you participated. Then we can all read each other’s wants and needs and either commiserate or judge silently. Away!
My wants:
- socks (my feet are cold)
- Andy to be cuddling with me (right now he’s doing zoomies around the house like he’s on crack)
- a blow up mattress (I am going camping in a week and a half and I am not sleeping on a Thermarest)
- to walk without limping (self explanatory, that one)
- more sugar in my tea
My need:
- I have everything I need, except direction. I need to figure out what I want to do with my life.

I want:
1. to get into Education at UBC
2. a coworker that isn’t homophobic, racist, sexist, rude, or stupid
3. sunny and warm weather
4. to win the lottery so I don’t have to work in this office any more
5. work in my garden
6. go for a bike ride
Things I actually need: to get into Education at UBC … which will then lead to a more enjoyable job eventually.
