As you all know (because I keep bombarding you with the link) I am on LibraryThing. A few weeks ago I used my scanner to get covers of the 20 or so books I had in my library that did not have a cover listed in the database. For the two books that I only shared with one other user apiece, I sent a message letting them know that I had uploaded a cover, in case they wanted to use it. (My mild OCD kicks in with stuff like that and I hated the sight of my library without the proper covers. I thought that others might feel the same way, so I shared.)
Now I know this is petty, but both users are now using their respective cover, and neither messaged me back to say thank you for letting them know. I know it’s petty, but I can’t help but feel a little ticked about it. If someone had messaged me to let me know they had some additional data for a book we shared, even if I didn’t care, I would still message them back. It just seems polite. Strange for neither of them to think so, considering that on the whole, LT is the most polite site I have ever been a part of, including the forums. I guess book worms and bibliophiles are normally quite wonderful people.
I must have just hit the two duds.

Hey, this is the LibraryThing guy here. I saw this on Google Blog Search.
I suspect something else happened. Neither user saw your message. Or they ignored it—either way. The system, however, periodically reevaluates the covers for every ISBN on the system. If coverless book now has a cover from a user, the ISBN picks that cover up, at least until it can reevaluate it later. It’s always done as a majority thing, but if there’s only one cover from one user and no covers from anyone else, that cover will “win,” and everyone will get it.

Well now don’t I feel like a jerk for thinking they were jerks! Just goes to show you never know who’s scoping out the blog.
Thanks for the info, Tim.
