Pitt puppies

I went down to the North Van animal shelter today, to give them some goodies and to get some lovin’. First was Meika, a full-blood pitt who thinks she is a lap dog. Then Purdy, a pitt-lab-pointer cross who was really hyper but then would sprawl on her back to get some good belly rubs.

I left with a big smile on my face, and left some happier doggies in my wake.

That’s an awesome thing to do.

Hehe, how do you get in on that volunteering gig? Do you just show up, or call ahead to schedule? How does it work? I would absolutely LOVE to do this.

Hi Laura! If you want to walk the dogs, you need to attend one of their orientation sessions on a Saturday morning. I don’t walk the dogs yet because of my torn ACL, so I just go and cuddle. They know me because I work across the street, so they let me do this without having done any orientation.

I’m not sure how any of the other shelters work, but the North Van district shelter is full of awesome people – I know if you dropped in and said you want to volunteer, they would be happy to set you up. FYI – they are closed on Mondays.
