It’s starting to shape up
March 21, 2009Erin No Comments »Today I did something I have not done in over three weeks – I walked without my crutches! I brought them out with me just in case, but they ended up staying in the car because although I am slow and limpy, I can walk! Woo hoo!
To celebrate this achievement, I went to Walmart and bought closet organizational mix-and-match things to get my room organized. I didn’t want to buy a dresser but I do have things that need to be in drawers or baskets or whatnot, and this system is perfect. I have two sets of three hanging shelves – one I have left open and the other one I have drawers. I also added another bar, giving me even more hanging space in my gigantic closet.
I got everything hung up according to my system (yes, I have a system for my clothes). I got the bed skirt on my bed, all by myself. I moved all the boxes into the office that I could manage – I may be able to walk but I still can’t lift anything heavy. I vacuumed, and I finally got my air purifier plugged in and running, so hopefully my allergies will back off a little.
This is the first time since I have moved in that I have been able to organize and put stuff away all by myself. Up ’til now, I have needed help as I was not able to carry anything on my crutches. Being such an organizational freak, it has been stressing me out that my house has still has boxes lurking around with unknown items in it. It felt so good to get one room done. Even if it’s not finished, at least I have done all I could in there for the time being.
I plan to work on one room a day. This is also the first time I have set a goal for myself, with anything, since my surgery. I feel better about things.
