I’ve been back to living solo for one month, and I have done two things consistently for that time: putting my shoes away on the rack, and resetting my kitchen (almost) every day. There was a three or four day period when the kitchen got neglected but it only took one 20 minute session to put it straight again. I am so much less stressed in general when my kitchen is clean, plus I will cook food consistently and take leftovers to work which saves money. Those are good paybacks for five minutes of resetting every day.

I think for December I am going to try adding in vacuuming every day. It takes less than 10 minutes to vacuum the downstairs and it might help with Maia’s dust mite allergy.

Speaking of which, the Vanectyl-P has worked its magic and Maia is no longer itchy like she was before. I had classed her at a 7.5/10 and my vet wanted her down to 2.5 – I’d say she’s maybe even less than that. I’m putting a fresh furnace filter in tomorrow and on my next day off I’m going to look for carbon filters for the vents.

I splurged on a Samsung tablet when I was in Oregon (on sale, no tax!) and I thought I was going to have a housedog problem when I tried to connect it to my wifi because it wasn’t working and wasn’t working and WASN’T WORKING but then it turned out to be a user error (ahem) and now it works beautifully.

Hooray Maia is feeling better! Bea has terrible environmental allergies when it isn’t winter and has to be on meds, otherwise she licks the hair off of her legs and stomach. 🙁

Having a clean house makes me less stressed, too. I think there is this thought at the back of my mind (“clean!”) when I’m trying to relax, and I just can’t if the house isn’t straightened up.
